Qaanitah Hunter examines why the reelection of Cyril Ramaphosa and John Steenhuisen will make them, arguably, the most powerful politicians in South Africa. But will their party wins be meaningless for South Africans?

Two politicians are seeking a second term to lead their parties with both their leadership bids consequential for the future of South African politics.

President Cyril Ramaphosa wants to be ANC president for another five years while John Steenhuisen is hoping to be the DA leader for another three years.
