More needs to be done to counter Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy, which can happen for a variety of reasons. Ashraf Kagee and Mark Tomlinson spell out what some of those reasons are.
Why are some people Covid-19 vaccine hesitant? There is clear evidence that receiving the vaccine will prevent people from becoming seriously ill or dying from Covid-19. The vaccines prevent the spread of the virus that causes Covid-19 and add to the number of people in the community who are protected from getting Covid-19, thus making it more difficult for the disease to spread. Despite these benefits, some people remain hesitant to accept the vaccine.
In the popular imagination, vaccine hesitancy has, to some extent, become conflated with anti-vaccination and the anti-vax movement.
