Mcebisi Ndletyana explains why health minister Zweli Mkhize will not exert any political cost on President Cyril Ramaphosa should he decide to fire him.

"These are serious and disturbing allegations and therefore it is essential that they be thoroughly investigated by the SIU and any other appropriate authority, and that these investigations be finalised without any delay and the due legal process is followed... let us allow this process to unfold and thereafter we will know what needs to be done."

That's what President Cyril Ramaphosa said during his budget speech in Parliament on Wednesday. Ramaphosa was responding to an emerging chorus to fire the minister in question, Zweli Mkhize. A few days earlier, reports had emerged that Mkhize's family received financial benefits from a company, Digital Vibes, that involve his former personal assistant, Naadhira Mitha.
