The Eastern Cape conference proved that the ANC is more disunited than it was in 2017 - which points to Cyril Ramaphosa failing at his most pointed task after being elected, writes Qaanitah Hunter.

Except for the US 2016 election, where Donald Trump won surprisingly against Hilary Clinton, most major elections can be predicted based on the primaries that come before them.

It's a similar scenario for the ANC's internal elections where the 'primaries', which take the form of the ANC's regional and provincial conferences, tell us in advance what the state of play is.
