The municipal elections are now less than three weeks away.

While national elections are about national issues, leaders of political parties and ideology, municipal elections are about service delivery at grassroots level. It is about local councillors and municipalities. It is about reliable, clean running water, consistent electricity supply, fixing potholes and the cleanliness of where we live, corruption at a local level and getting things done that improve our everyday standard of living.

With voting day around the corner, political parties are visiting every town, neighbourhood and city to canvass for votes - but do they understand the issues?

As the spotlight is shone on local government, we want to know from you: what are the issues in your municipality? Tell us where you live, where the local government has failed and how it is affecting the local economy.

In addition, there are many inspiring stories of local communities taking things into their own hands, fixing potholes, picking up rubbish and more? Tell us what your community has been doing and what you think the long-term solutions to your town's problems are.
