Naspers's South Africa CEO, Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa, shared key insights at the 2021 BRICS Business Forum in India on the growth of digital adoption across BRICS countries, as well as highlighting how these economies are rapidly leveraging digital technologies for better governance and higher growth.
She believes that the Covid-19 pandemic has exposed inequalities and has changed how we live, consume, interact, and do business forever. As a continent, Africa needs more public private partnerships to accelerate economic growth and to harness the potential that the Fourth Industrial Revolution brings – for the future of the large and growing population of young people coming of working age on the continent. The BRICS nations have without a doubt, been at the forefront of the digital revolution, and in many cases are "leapfrogging" existing, already digitalised economies.
"Ultimately, we need to work together to ensure that digital transformation has the potential to unlock inclusive growth and play an important part in reconstruction and recovery of all our economies."
