In South Africa, renewing a car licence or paying a traffic fine often comes with a complementary crash course in Patience. With payCity, you can skip the long queues, the ‘offline’ systems – and the frustration – by doing both online, from only R99*.

Vehicle Licence Reminders & Renewals

payCity’s affordable vehicle licence renewal portal allows you to renew your car licence in just 6 minutes online, with the added convenience of delivery of your new licence disc to your door.

All you have to do is complete these easy steps through an internet browser or via the payCity app (available on the Google Play store for Android and App store for Apple smartphones):

  • Capture your vehicle details.
  • Upload required documentation.
  • payCity calculates a quote.
  • Make the payment.

Upon completing the steps, payCity will submit your application to the registering authority for processing. Once your licence arrives, payCity will then courier it to you. You can expect to receive your licence within 5-12 business days (main centres), or within 14 business days (regional and more remote areas).

No matter if you’re an individual or representing a company, you can use the payCity service. All that’s required to renew a licence is for you to complete the steps. Individuals will need to have a current licence disc, a copy of their ID and proof of address. Some registering authorities might also require a permission letter (this will be stated if required). Company representatives will need the same documentation as individuals, with an additional Registration Number Certificate. Licence renewal customers can also simply register and load their vehicle details and payCity will remind them when their licence disc is due.

Any outstanding warrants or AARTO enforcement orders will need to be paid before an application can be processed. Also, all vehicles that have licences outstanding or due should also be renewed together, as both of the above can block the licence disc from printing and result in delays in your licence being delivered.

View & Pay Traffic Fines

In addition to quick and easy vehicle licence renewals, payCity also offers a convenient way to view and settle traffic fines, by accessing fine information for fines issued against the CPA (Criminal Procedures Act), as well as fines issued against the AARTO (Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences) Act.

As both a viewing and payment portal, the payCity website allows you to view the full offence details and also view images and documents associated to the traffic fine where available.

Payment for the traffic fine or infringement can then be made either via credit / debit card or via instant EFT.

payCity has been appointed by the various Issuing Authorities to collect payments, as a collection partner, and fines are marked as paid in real time on the issuing authority’s contravention system.

Any notices that have been issued under the AARTO Act that have moved to an enforcement order status and are blocking a vehicle licence renewal will, when paid through payCity, immediately be cleared and the block lifted.
