Selling or buying a new car is no small decision – and, while it can be tempting to jump on the first deal you come across, it’s important to know you have a second option to ensure you’re getting the best value when selling or buying. Thankfully, you can get great value for either when doing your exchange at a trusted car company like Weelee.

What started out as a small start-up in a heavily over-traded environment in 2017, has now become the foremost challenger to the dominant giant in the category - due to the options, convenience, speed and safety it provides its customers.

Weelee’s original car bidding service business model allowed customers to load their cars onto the platform and connect with registered dealers who would bid on the advertised cars. In the last two years, the company has upped the ante by taking reselling into their own hands - to help bridge a gap for those looking to buy or sell within one trusted environment.

Testament to this is their Hello Peter Trust rating of 10/10, earned by using heart, will, the ability to be more flexible and build real and meaningful relationships with customers.

We spoke to Weelee CEO Errol Levin around the company’s growth, and why they have become such a trusted brand in the industry.

Sell and buy in one place

One of the main objectives Weelee takes to heart is client centricity in their work and through their platform, and their 4.8-star rating on Hello Peter embellishes the star quality they possess.

"The business was born out of the fact that customers had few options and there were lots of dealers out there that you could trade your car into - but as we all know when you trade your car in at a dealer, you don’t necessarily get the best price. Purchasing cars ourselves offered a perfect opportunity because a lot of people wanted the convenience of a Weelee representative coming out and immediately putting the money into your accounts instantly, and taking the car," explains Levin.

A number of car buying companies have come and and gone with one major player dominating this space. Weelee encourages customers to not just accept one offer but rather try them for a qualified second opinion. Their status as the fastest online car sales platform proves that Weelee not only offers customers the best price but delivers exceptional service.

Errol goes on to say: "As a result, Weelee prides itself on being the car people’s champion for always having their customer’s back."

Multiple avenues in which to sell your car

When it comes to selling your car, Weelee has a range of options. Its as simple as loading your car on their website, and a Weelee representative coming out to your home or office, or allowing multiple dealers to bid on your car. You can even go to one of their buying Pods, or visit their showrooms in Kempton or Sandton.

"We have 1000’s of client listings every month and give you the option where we’ll come out and purchase your car now, or you can list it to thousands of registered dealers on our platform and get an auction-facilitated offer at the best possible price," Levin says.

"We differentiate not only in our customer service, but we offer two different avenues to sell whereas other players in the industry traditionally only offer one."

Buy at wholesale prices

With options to buy online, or visit two showrooms to purchase cars from in Sandton and Kempton Park, Weelee has grown over the years to reach their client base and give them the best of both worlds.

To ensure clients get the best value if purchasing directly from Weelee, the company offers customers the chance to buy a pre-owned car at wholesale price – cutting out extra costs and fees should you go through a third-party dealer.

This places immediate control in the hands of the client – giving them the power of choice and what best suits their budget and value needs.

Transparency

Weelee prides itself on maintaining transparency with their client base – an element that their executives believe car owners should always be wary of when trading off one of their most expensive assets.

"We feel transparency is the same principle that we offer within our showroom to clients. If there is damage to a vehicle, we note that down in a condition report, we show it to the client – it’s very clear and transparent," adds Levin, "We sell a lot of cars that still have warranties, we offer clients extended warranties, and we just try to give clients the best opportunity to make an educated decision when buying a car."

Weelee also avoids investing in cars with mechanical damages that put potential clients at risk. "We do our homework, and we make sure whatever car we buy has no mechanical damage. So, when it comes down to the reports we disclose, it's going to be cosmetic issues. There might be a scratch here or a dent there, and we note if there was a previous repair, but we walk away from cars that have got mechanical damages," explains Levin.

The same principle is applied when clients are looking to sell a car, striving to include a lot of communication, guidance, and transparency throughout the process.

More than one option

The main advice for car owners is to know that there is more than one option or platform to consider. Weelee implores car owners to do their research, consider options and offers, and really be empowered with knowledge about their potential sale or purchase through transparent communication with reseller brands and dealers.

This is the gap Weelee found in the market that welcomed disruption and allowed them to grow. "There was a huge opportunity to disrupt this market from a service level point of view."

Waving their green flag, Weelee promises its clients trust, transparency, and weelee reliable service. You can find out more information about Weelee and browse their offerings here.
