South Africa is, according to President Cyril Ramaphosa, being threatened with possible "penalties" for its non-aligned foreign policy stance.

But in spite of this, the country will not be backpedaling from its stance and instead, he has encouraged other African states to pursue independent foreign policies.

Ramaphosa gave a fiery address during the national Africa Day celebrations held at the Cradle of Humankind in Gauteng on Thursday.
