Yes, President Cyril Ramaphosa has a lot to answer to, but the Section 194 Committee isn't the place to do it, writes parliamentary reporter Jan Gerber.

As one's mind starts to wander when sitting through hours and hours of the National Assembly's impeachment hearings of suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, it becomes harder and harder not to imagine her counsel, advocate Dali Mpofu SC, with a top hat and a whip. He appears to be under the impression that Parliament is a circus and that he is the ringmaster.

He has tried his best to turn proceedings into a vacuous political spectacle, peddled conspiracy theories, and petulantly clashed with witnesses, MPs and the chairperson, especially when it is pointed out to him that he is not the ringmaster after all.
