Defending their president from scrutiny with regard to the Phala Phala allegations, ANC MPs appeared to traverse the same ground they did during the state capture years, which was sharply criticised by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo and also contradicts President Cyril Ramaphosa's admissions to the Zondo Commission.

The DA's chief whip, Siviwe Gwarube, on Tuesday brought a motion to the National Assembly to establish an ad hoc committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the burglary at Ramaphosa's Limpopo game farm.

It had a familiar ring to it.
