The questionable nature of advocate Dali Mpofu SC's defence of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane continued when he could not lead the evidence of Zambian Public Protector Caroline Zulu-Sokoni on Monday - the last day the inquiry was due to sit for the year.
After Zulu-Sokoni was sworn in, Mpofu informed the committee it emerged on Sunday, when they prepared for Monday's proceedings, Zulu-Sokoni "would not be in a position to testify".
The evidence leaders led their last witness on 11 November, which means Mkhwebane's team had more than two weeks to prepare their witnesses, whose evidence they started leading last Tuesday, having spent last Monday bringing an unsuccessful application to remove evidence leader advocate Nazreen Bawa SC.
