Suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's advocate Dali Mpofu SC insists the legal team did not "walk out" of her parliamentary impeachment inquiry after failing to get it postponed – but his claims did not convince MPs.
"Did we walk? Yes, we walked. Did we go out? Yes, we went out, But did we stage a walkout? No, we did not," Mpofu stated in an address to the Section 194 committee investigating Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office on Wednesday.
"We left and we were out, yes. Just as you do every time there's a tea break," he told the committee chairperson Qubudile Dyantyi.
