"Fugitive from justice" Paul Ngobeni has emerged as one of the architects of Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's legal campaign to challenge the impeachment inquiry, despite being unable to practice law in South Africa.

Apart from providing taxpayer-funded "legal opinions" in some of Mkhwebane's most politically explosive investigations, Ngobeni's work for the now suspended Public Protector also included the publication of "analysis" articles attacking the judges who ruled against her and her critics from civil society.

It also appears from newly admitted evidence Ngobeni also attempted to involve proxies like Black First Land First in her defence against Parliament's scrutiny.
