In a move that will likely set the tone for the rest of the province, the ANC in eThekwini boosted Zweli Mkhize's plans for a political comeback and ambitions for the ANC presidency.

The significance of the ANC in eThekwini's endorsement of Mkhize was said to be indicative of a push by a bulk of regions in KwaZulu-Natal.

eThekwini is one of the ANC's most prominent regions in the country and was expected to bring a large delegation to the national elective conference in December.
