Incoming Gauteng premier, Panyaza Lesufi, is bracing himself for a baptism of fire.

He takes the reins in the province during a particularly daunting period, in which citizens face numerous challenges, including a water crisis, skyrocketing crime, and high unemployment rates.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Lesufi pledged to hit the ground running as he seeks to tackle the water crisis and return the province to its former glory as the haven of opportunity.
