Hours before the DA's elective congress, constitutional amendments on party discipline were thrust into the spotlight as bigwigs looked set to tighten the noose around the necks of those who defy the party.

Just over 2 000 delegates will decide on the DA's future and its offering to voters as the 2024 general election looms.

One of the crucial amendments relates to disciplinary processes and how the party deals with unruly members.
