The souring relationship between ActionSA and the DA reached a climax on Monday when the latter threatened to haul Herman Mashaba’s party to court for defamation while also announcing that the coalition-led DA in Tshwane will investigate ActionSA Tshwane chairperson Abel Tau.
The friction between the two parties appears to stem from the switching of allegiances by party members from one party to the other, as well as discontentment with coalition governments across Gauteng municipalities.
On Monday, the DA in KwaZulu-Natal threatened legal action against ActionSA for allegations made by its national chairperson Michael Beaumont, who last week accused senior DA leaders of attempting to bribe an ActionSA councillor from Newcastle.
