Lower structures of the ANC appear to be bearing the brunt of battles being fought to amass support for different candidates in the lead-up to the party's national elective conference set to take place in just over two weeks.
On Monday, the Amatole region in the Eastern Cape, which is said to be backing Paul Mashatile for deputy president and not the province's preferred candidate, provincial chairperson Oscar Mabuyane, was disbanded.
The dissolution comes months after the suspension of the region's secretary, Teris Ntutu - who is allied with Mashatile, - earlier this year.
