With a looming report hanging over President Cyril Ramaphosa's head this week, ANC national chairperson Gwede Mantashe says there is a big difference between the Phala Phala scandal and allegations of corruption linked to Digital Vibes implicating his rival, Zweli Mkhize.
"The former [Digital Vibes scandal] relates to an accusation of stealing money from the state while the latter [Phala Phala saga] is an accusation of an individual's money being stolen from him and them having failed to report the matter," Mantashe told News24.
Mantashe, who is seeking a second term as ANC national chairperson at the party's elective conference in December, threw his weight behind Ramaphosa, saying the weakness of the ANC leadership in the last five years could not be attributed to the president alone.
