One year later, National Assembly building is still in ruins after horror fire

Today, a year ago exactly, flames engulfed the National Assembly building. As firefighters battled in vain, bystanders watched in horror as the national legislature was razed.

Since then, nothing has been done to effect repairs on the building, and the parliamentary precinct is surrounded by barbed wire.

Police yellow tape prevents access to the building and weeds are slowly overgrowing at one of the country's most significant architectural gems.
