The Zondo Commission's findings and the various scandals ANC members get embroiled in, like Digital Vibes or being caught on video assaulting women, didn't make much of an impression on the just over 4 000 ANC delegates who elected a new national elective committee (NEC) for the governing party.
In his address on Tuesday as the party adjourned its conference until January, President Cyril Ramaphosa said while the ANC must take all "necessary actions to end corruption and patronage within the ANC", recent experiences have shown that "such actions can be difficult and painful".
"We know that these actions may be met with opposition and that they may increase discord within our structures," Ramaphosa said.
