A defiant ANC national executive committee (NEC) delegation, led by the chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, to represent the party at Cosatu's 14th elective congress, were adamant that workers' lives "are better now than before".

Cosatu delegates booed Mantashe off the stage on Monday as he was supposed to deliver the ANC's message of support.

They said he and the ANC had betrayed workers when the government, in 2020, reneged on implementing the last leg of the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council resolution of 2018.
