The DA's leadership race is gaining pace, and party leader John Steenhuisen this weekend kicks off his campaign for a second term in the Cape Town suburb of Mouille Point, a DA stronghold.
Delegates of the official opposition are set to elect a new leader in April next year - and, while there is no formal contestation, Steenhuisen is sparking an early start to his campaign.
In what was seen as a hasty move, Steenhuisen earlier this month wrote to DA members asking for their support for a second term.
