Conflicted: Ramaphosa in a bind as ANC bids to 'rip heart out' of party funding Act

President Cyril Ramaphosa might find himself in a conflict of interest if he is to promulgate amendments to the Political Party Funding Act (PPFA) as a donor to the ANC himself.  

Less than a year after he brought the PPFA into effect, the governing ANC already wants to increase limits for the disclosure of donations.   

Currently, parties have to declare any donations above R100 000 to the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC). The ANC's national working committee (NWC) recommended that this should be increased to either R250 000 or R500 000.
