Covid-19: Key data shows no signs of third wave as SA braces for stricter lockdown

Key data metrics used to measure increases in Covid-19 cases at district and sub-district level are showing no signs of the looming third wave – yet.

Concern is rife among citizens that government could implement stricter lockdown measures as the Easter weekend draws near, but experts are sharing concern of a different kind – the potential of capacity church services to turn into super-spreader events.

According to the South African Covid-19 Modelling Consortium’s Epidemic Explorer dashboard, 50 of the country’s 52 health districts are not showing signs of case increases over the past five days.
