Deputy President David Mabuza is a healthy man, his office says, despite needing time off "to attend to his health" and spending large chunks of his time on unexplained activities.
His spokesperson Matshepo Seedat told News24 rumours that Mabuza was battling with illness was "a figment of whomever's imagination". Mabuza's most recent official sick leave - from 22 to 31 July - was merely "to rest and attend to his health", Seedat said.
An analysis of Mabuza's diary for the first two years of his deputy presidency found that a third of his time was unaccounted for or spent on ANC activities. News24 obtained access to Mabuza's diary through an application to the presidency in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
