Security for the prosecutor in charge of trying ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule and other businessmen accused of corruption in connection with the R255 million Free State asbestos audit contract has been thrown into jeopardy after his house was burgled.

News24 can reveal advocate Johan de Nysschen's house, in the quiet suburb of Universitas in Bloemfontein, was burgled last Saturday. And now, the police are worried about his security.

A senior law enforcement officer said the police believed the burglary was meant to intimidate De Nysschen ahead of the asbestos criminal trial which gets underway in Bloemfontein on Friday.
