The NPA's second in command, advocate Rodney de Kock, has issued a scathing rebuke of south Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Andrew Chauke, for flouting NPA policy and "exceeding his powers".

De Kock's admonition – revealed in court papers on Tuesday – has exposed fault lines in the uppermost echelons of the prosecutions service, still struggling to right itself after the malaise of state capture.
