A shadowy letterbox company used as a conduit for Gupta-linked state contract kickbacks donated R10 million to the ANC weeks before millions in government tender funds started flowing through it.

The company, Ballatore Brands, has no discernible business activity and was among two companies owned by Mohamed Akram Khan that received roughly R95 million from Gupta-linked front company, Homix – via a second intermediary - in 2014 and 2015.
