The fate of embattled Crime Intelligence (CI) boss Peter Jacobs – alongside five senior officers under his command – hinges on an expedited disciplinary process which will play out this week.

The cohort find themselves at the centre of an apparent leadership purge in the cop spy unit, facing charges of serious misconduct after allegations surfaced that they unlawfully used the division's Secret Services Account – a shadowy slush fund used to bankroll covert operations – to purchase Covid-19 PPE.

Police commissioner General Khehla Sitole, acting on findings of an investigation into alleged “irregulatorties” in their tapping of the slush fund – spearheaded by Inspector General of Intelligence Setlhomamaru Dintwe – suspended the six in December.
