The spread of Covid-19 in South Africa has reached an “equilibrium” and the risk of a third wave of infections is now imminent, Gauteng health department officials said on Friday.  

Key data metrics, used as early warning systems for the expected second resurgence in cases, show that the country is in its second "trough" between infection peaks.
