A looming inquiry into national police commissioner Khehla Sitole's fitness to hold office – nearly three and a half years after his appointment – will draw into sharp focus a secret meeting he attended in 2017, just 21 days into his term.
The meeting at Pretoria's Courtyard Hotel on the eve of the ANC's Nasrec elective conference, has placed police top brass in close proximity to what the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has alleged was a shadowy money laundering plot to swing the ballot in favour of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
