An internal police probe into the murder of Anti-Gang Unit detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear, and the failure of police to act on a chilling piece of information that his life was in danger, has drawn in Western Cape Crime Intelligence boss, Major-General Mzwandile Tiyo.
Kinnear was shot dead near his home, and despite a string of assassination attempts stretching over months – and a warning sent to police top brass two weeks before he was killed that his life was in danger – he died without protection.
