Suspended police Crime Intelligence (CI) boss Peter Jacobs has pointed to a shadowy plot – allegedly hatched by his detractors in the uppermost echelons of police management – to deploy covert operatives to spy on him.
Jacobs and five senior officers under his command were suspended in November last year while facing misconduct charges over the use of the division's secret slush fund to bankroll a dubious Covid-19 personal protective equipment (PPE) splurge.
