The stage is set for the latest court battle between top cop Khehla Sitole and former Crime Intelligence boss Peter Jacobs, the outcome of which may hold grave consequences for the losing foe.

On Wednesday, Jacobs approached the Johannesburg Labour Court to halt a disciplinary inquiry that would likely see him axed if seen to fruition.

Jacobs faces misconduct charges for his alleged failure to act on a warning that Anti-Gang Unit detective Lieutenant-Colonel Charl Kinnear's phone was being illegally tracked and his life was in danger.
