It is crunch time for clubs in the greater Mangaung Metro that qualified for the promotion play-offs of the South African Football Association’s (Safa) third-tier division.

The play-offs feature the overall league winners of Bloemfontein, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Dewetsdorp and Wepener. The teams involved are campaigning in the lower division, the Safa Interstate Bus Lines Promotion League.

Clubs will begin with their quest competing on Saturday (15/05).

The promotion play-offs for Bloemfontein will see Dikoena Stars and Super Lions square off at the Mangaung Outdoor Sports Centre.

Stars won in stream A, while Lions won in stream B. They were unstoppable in their respective streams.

The play-offs for Botshabelo will see three clubs in action on Saturday. They are Junior Birds, Conversation FC and Napoli FC.

The three teams will compete on a round-robin basis to determine the overall winner.

The overall winner thereof will progress to the promotion play-offs, where two clubs from the Mangaung region will be promoted to the third-tier division – the SAB League for u.21 players.

Belgium United was crowned as the champions of Thaba Nchu on Sunday (09/05). This is after beating their hometown rivals Real Angles by 4 – 1 during the Thaba Nchu play-offs.

United is waiting to face off against the winner from Botshabelo, Bloemfontein and Dewetsdorp, respectively.

Tonkakga FC from Wepener was crowned as the winner a week ago. The team won the league of the town in question.

The overall winners of Bloemfontein, Botshabelo, Thaba Nchu, Dewetsdorp and Wepener are scheduled to meet on 22 May to determine the two clubs to be promoted.

The promotion play-offs will be staged at the Mmabana Stadium in Thaba Nchu.
