Scientists at the Imperial College London in the UK are researching the effect of the virus on the immune system after women there reported breaking out in rashes and burns after dying their locks.

The BBC reported that the trade body which represents hairdressers and beauty therapists in the UK was warning them to carry out patch tests before dye is applied to the whole head to avoid facing possible legal action.

Hairdressers who spoke to the BBC reported having noticed this.
