The German department was delighted to organise a special day in Hermannsburg: Der Deutsche Tag, our German Day on October 8. This year, the Goethe Institute provided Hermannsburg School with their multilingual game. The Goethe Institute is a strong player in the international Paschnet (partner schools network) to which Hermannsburg belongs.
Acting principal Lothar Witthöft said: “Our primary school pupils started finding the right answers to the linguistic assignments - in six different stations our pupils worked in groups on questions and tasks related to different languages. During the tea break, everyone enjoyed German Delicatessen, followed by the high school facing the challenges of the multilingual game. From Grade 1 to 12, our pupils performed very well and qualified themselves for the lucky draw, winning some super prizes.”
The whole school came together on the sports field for the awards ceremony, where the attractive prizes were handed out for a German poster competition.
