RISING Afropop musician, Thembi Mona, from Phumlani near Needs Camp in East London, has released a new single, titled Asoze Ndiphinde, a love melody she collaborated on with Ngcobo DJ and producer, LIL V BBM.

Mona’s new single is a follow up to a six-track EP she released in December last year.

She is known for her work on several hit singles with other nationally acclaimed artists, with her most recent being the vocalist behind DJ SK’s latest hit track, Loyiso.

“I’ve been in the music industry for a long time but initially I was working behind the scenes, writing music for other artists. I was persuaded by friends and family who used to hear me singing to not only write songs but to sing also and in 2015, I started as a recording artist,” Mona said.

She said, as her music career grows, she wants to remain grounded in her beloved Phumlani and planned to share her knowledge in the music industry with other up-and-coming musicians in her township by offering free lessons on music writing, registration with South African Music Rights Organisation and other important intricacies within the music industry.

Mona said she also wanted to establish her recording company that would be biased towards artists from Phumlani, East London and the entire Eastern Cape.

Her new single, Asoze Ndiphinde, officially dropped on October 1 and is currently available on all digital music download and streaming platforms.

Thembi can also be reached on social media through her ThembiMona Music Facebook page as well as her personal account, Thembi Mona.
