The PE Express and The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino are asking readers to nominate their “Community Heroes of 2021”.

A community hero is someone who has made a significant contribution towards uplifting and bettering their community, whether it is by helping children, a family in need, the elderly, or animals.

Do you know someone who is filled with kindness and compassion who has gone the extra mile in whatever manner, in what has been an extremely challenging year for most?

We have all been staying home, hunkering down against the cold and trying to stay healthy and motivated as midyear fatigue creeps in.

Now, the PE Express in collaboration with Sun International’s premier Gqeberha hotel, The Boardwalk, is giving you a chance to brighten up one incredible person’s day by nominating them as our Community Hero. And if they win, so do you!

Every week, for the next month, we will be running the Community Heroes campaign.

We will choose a Community Hero weekly and they will win an awesome prize, sponsored by The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino.

The aim of the competition is to give back to our local heroes and to say thank you for their selfless work.

Nominate your hero

All you have to do is share, in 300 words or less, the special abilities and qualities that make your Community Hero a role model for your community.

Describe what it is they do to improve people’s lives and why they deserve to win.

The PE Express will publish the winning letters in the newspaper.

The person who nominated the week’s winning Community Hero will also win the same prize.

How to enter

Follow the PE Express on Facebook and submit your letter in the form below.

Letters should not be more than 300 words.

Send entries before 10:00 on Monday, September 20.

  • This week the prize on offer is a dinner for two at the Bayside Pantry, valued at R390.
