Over 30 skaters showed their stuff at a competition held on Saturday 16 July at Longbeach Mall.

On Saturday 16 July a bunch of skaters showed their skills in a skateboarding contest at the back parking at Longbeach Mall.

The skating began shortly after 13:00, with music and commentating. Around 30 skaters showed off their skating skills, with some just participating for fun while others took the competition more seriously. Competitors were cheered on by over 100 spectators.

Sebastian Dos Santos, Joshua Trope and Siobhan Cameron funded and organised prizes, food and drinks to create an enjoyable environment.

The goal of the event was to excite the people of the valley about skating and to host something that everyone could enjoy, Cameron says.

“Throughout the day there was an amazing atmosphere. We had someone on the mic most of the time and music kept everyone happy.

“Overall this day was a great success and we would like to thank the management of Longbeach Mall for allowing us to follow through with this competition and supporting us with it.”
