Twenty five people left homeless after shack fire

About 25 people have been left homeless after a fire gutted their shacks in Vrygrond  today (Monday 6 March).                   

Tracy Whitaker, fire and rescue services assistant media spokesperson says, the City's Fire and Rescue Service responded to wood and iron structures burning in Philemon Road - Vrygrond at  16:15.

“There are about 10 wood and iron structures alight and 25 people have been displaced. Three fire fighting cars with 15 permanent firefighters are currently on scene. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage.”
