THE Ugu Complaints Facebook page is bombarded every day with complaints from residents from all around the district, complaining about the lack of water, burst pipes and dirty water.
In the past week alone, complaints came from residents from Umzinto to Port Edward and many other areas in-between.
A Port Edward business owner, who asked to remain anonymous, said a lot of water is being wasted when the reservoir overflows into Valley Road, which she said happens often, and the gravel road has been damaged by the constant water flow, which has made driving on it difficult.
“We feel if it is reported in the paper something will finally be done about it because it affects our business,” she said. Vicky Toussaint of Oslo Beach visited Fever to voice her frustration and said it looks like the Ugu water network is heading towards total collapse.
“Yet we are expected to pay for a service we are not even getting,” said Toussaint.
On Tuesday morning, another pipe burst in Shelly Beach opposite the mall. On Sunday, another Shelly Beach pipe was reported to have burst pipe in Seaview Road.
In a recent interview with the Fever, DA councillor George Henderson said he feels the water problems could be solved if Umgeni Water took over water supply services on the South Coast.
