The committee tasked with filling the vacancies announced the shortlisting of the 14 candidates on Wednesday, which included Moela and league NEC member Thembinkosi Josopu.
Also on the shortlist is Yershen Pillay, whose term as the board chairperson ended in March.
The committee had received more than 480 applications for the positions by the closing date on November 18.
The other shortlisted candidates are: Joy Maimela, Zandile Myeni, Zandile Majozi, Siyaduma Biniza, Ndomiso Mokako, Sifiso Mtsweni, Kenneth Morolong, Bavelile Hlongwa, Andile Biyela, Zilondiwe Goge and Siyabonga Magadla.

On Tuesday, the committee asked for an extension to do their work.
Committee co-chairperson Phil Mapulane said they wanted the extension to allow for public participation and for the process to be as transparent as possible.
The committee now has until March to report to the National Assembly.
The president appoints the board on the recommendation of the National Assembly.
