Two KwaZulu-Natal robbers - Malungelo Ngwabe, 58, and Mondli Skhosana, 50 - have been each sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment for kidnapping people outside ATMs in Amanzimtoti before robbing them of their cash.
The Pinetown Regional Court handed down the sentence on Friday.
They were found guilty of robbery, theft and kidnapping.
Skhosana was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Their sentences come after they were found guilty of robbing three people on different occasions in 2014, the police said.
KZN police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala added the duo's modus operandi was to target victims who had withdrawn money from ATMs.
"The suspects would pose as police officers and take the victims to a secluded area where they were robbed of their belongings. Three victims were robbed on different occasions during 2014.
"The accused made several court appearances until their sentencing," said Gwala.
