
Twenty-six people allegedly caught stealing rolls of copper cable at Delmas Colliery in Mpumalanga are expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Police received a tip-off about the theft of copper cables at the coal mine in Delmas. Fourteen people were arrested at the mine on Wednesday, police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said.
"Upon arrival at the mine, they [caught] the men in the act. Police further seized two vehicles – a blue VW Golf and a silver Toyota Avanza – as well as 52 rolls of copper cable on Wednesday and also seized 53 more rolls on Friday," Mdhluli said.
The rest of the suspects were arrested on Friday.
They are aged 25 to 38 and are expected to appear in the Delmas Magistrate's Court on charges of cable theft.
