The South African Council of Churches says the Covid-19 vaccines represent "the best hope to save lives in the midst of the pandemic", with the body throwing its support behind the science which it believes is "clear".

The council's stance is in stark contrast to the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), whose leader Kenneth Meshoe has been questioned about some of the comments he has made around the vaccine, despite the availability of scientific information and evidence.
