KwaZulu-Natal has been shocked by the assassination of Zulu Prince Mbongiseni Milton Muntukaphiwana Zulu, a close ally of newly-coronated King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, in Nongoma. Zulu was described as a warm person and a voice of reason in the Zulu royal family. A high-level police team has been tasked with finding his killers.
Former Bok coach Jake White has compared the fallout over Rassie Erasmus’ tweets about refereeing with the fallout caused by the controversial Kamp Staaldraad 20 years ago. According to White there is little to win from arguing with referees, although he agrees officiating needs addressing.
Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse will celebrate Christmas as the city’s number one citizen after opposition parties failed to bring a motion of no confidence against her. ANC leader in the council, Dada Morero, jokingly said: "We just wanted her to have a nice Christmas”. The opposition has threatened to bring a fresh motion of no confidence against her in January.
