Central to discussions at the ANC's three-day national executive committee (NEC) meeting starting on Sunday will be whether the party has the power to force its leaders to "step aside" from their positions if they are charged with a serious crime, like corruption.
This follows a resolution by the part at its conference in Nasrec in 2017, and a re-statement of that resolution at a meeting of the NEC, repeated by President Cyril Ramaphosa in a letter on the topic soon after.
